Dr. Charles Piwko holds a Pharmacy Doctor degree, a PhD in Pharmacology, and an MSc in Health Administration. With his Masters work performed at the University of Toronto and the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto from 2002-2005, he was previously Manager of “Pharmacy 12” in Zurich from 1996-2001. Dr. Piwko also held a position in the Department of Preclinical CNS-Pharmacology at Sandoz (Novartis) Pharma AG in Basel, Switzerland in association with the Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, as part of his PhD program from 1994-1996.
As a result of his years of experience, Dr. Piwko has a keen ability to perform critical and objective interpretations of scientific and commercial information, delivering timely, high-quality work. A strategic thinker and contingency planner, he has the analytical skills for integrating and interpreting interdisciplinary projects. Dr. Piwko’s experience includes conducting prospective, interview-based studies, systematic literature- and chart reviews, as well as prospective and retrospective burden of illness and economic studies. He has also worked on all facets of public and private payer submissions, with a focus on the clinical aspects of the submission. More recently Dr. Piwko wrote global value dossier, highlighting the clinical value and benefits of new drugs, technologies, and devices. A published author in peer-reviewed journals and occasional presenter at scientific conferences, Dr. Piwko is recognized for his expertise in organizing and running reimbursement and/or payer advisory board meetings, a service which provides clients with valuable information for planning their payer submissions.
